There are fantastic opportunities to grow in Christian discipleship and fellowship here at First United Methodist Church.  Each week we gather in small groups for Sunday School-- classes for all ages, beginning at 9:45 AM.  Various topics and themes are taken throughout the course of a given season and are always relevant and enriching.

High School--- Meets in the Family Life Center, Youth Room, 128

Adult 1--- Meets in the Education Building Library, Room 104

Adult 1 Class's objectives are to encourage personal growth through Christian living and to further understanding of our historic faith.  Members begin trickling into the Library about 9:30 a.m., anticipating a cup of fresh coffee and a light breakfast snack, followed by a few minutes of fellowship with friends old and new.  We catch up on those in need of prayer and those who have enjoyed special blessings during the week.  Shortly before 10 a.m., we offer a group prayer led by one of the class members, and then turn to our current study.

Bible study has always been our class emphasis, varying from the didactic to the simplistic, but lately we have branched out into some more current topics.  We try to include a unit or two of United Methodist history and/or theology during each year, and recently completed a study called "John Wesley's Message in the Modern World."  We are interrupting our current study of Yes, Lord, I Have Sinned But I Have Several Excellent Excuses by James W. Moore to do a seasonal series of lessons based on The Journey by Adam Hamilton.

Our class format is usually a "round table" discussion gently guided by our unofficial leader, Gary King.  Each class member's input and views are welcomed and respected as we take advantage of the church's library resources to research background issues and search for answers to questions that arise during class.

As we always say, "You might as well come, because most of your friends are here."  Please join us.

Adult 2--- Meets on the second floor of the Education Building in Room 206

Adult 2 Class tries to use a variety of resources to help us put our faith into practice.  One such past resource was the novel, The Shack by Wm. Paul Young.

We are beginning a new series by Adam Hamilton: "When Christians Get It Wrong."  This study tackles the disturbing trend in our society, that more adults are opting out of Christianity and the church.  Leader Judy Smitheal says the class will attempt to address the how's and why's of Christians "getting it right" when it comes to being Christ in the world.

We would love to have you join us Sunday for breakfast and lively discussion.

Adult 3--- Meets on the second floor of the Education Building in Room 205

Adult 3 Class, led by Ken Knapp, is just beginning a twelve-week series entitled "Telling the Old, Old Story" by Johnathan Wilson-Hartgroove.  The study presents the Bible in a storytelling format.

Currently, our class is made up of adults with children ranging in age from infants to high school.  We welcome all to our class.
