One of the most unique characteristics of First United Methodist Church, Fulshear, is its zeal for music and worship. Each week there is something meaningful to be experienced. Whether you're considering a visit to a worship service or are interested in becoming a part of one of our musical ensembles or ministry teams, know that with warm hearts we welcome you.
Congregational Singing in Worship
As a traditional worshiping community, we value the rich, diverse heritage of Christian music. What a gift to our children and youth as we share the ever relevant, timeless texts and melodies of the ages. The great hymns of the faith are such treasures as we offer them as our praise and prayers, acknowledging the unique value of cultivated expression in worship.
Also, alongside our traditional hymnody, one will discover well-crafted variety through contemporary and modern songs, spirituals and gospel music, world and roots music renderings, and so much more on any given Sunday in worship. Live instrumental accompaniment adorns the song of the gathered, including any combination of organ and piano, brass ensemble, acoustic guitar and djembe, flute, recorder, oboe, string quintet, and the list continues.
People of all walks of life, of all generations find a special entry point to worship through song at First United Methodist Church, Fulshear.
The Chancel Choir
Musical excellence to the glory of God, a community of vibrant faith, a place of fellowship and renewal--these are some of the ways to describe the ministry of The Chancel Choir. Together beginners and advanced singers join in the journey of lifting their voices in worship and bringing to the congregation special moments of inspiration and expression. Seasonal performances, community outreach events, tours, and social gatherings keep the momentum going and growing.
All are invited to gather with us for rehearsals each Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center, Choir Suite, Room 131.
The Chancel Bells and The Chancel Brass
English Handbells have become a fixture in the worship life of many congregations who value classical expression. At First United Methodist Church, Fulshear, we take part in this tradition through the vital ministry of our three-octave handbell ensemble. Also dynamic to our worship experience is our brass quintet which performs at festival Sundays and special celebrations. Much like our other musical ensembles, members of the Chancel Bells and Chancel Brass experience a sense of spiritual connectedness and valuable community as they together render a cultivated sound to the worship of God.
Those with interest in joining may contact the church office at 281-346-1416 to arrange a visit to one of our seasonal rehearsals which are held on periodically through the course of the year in the Family Life Center, Choir Suite, Room 131.
CONVERGE Youth Worship Arts
Mixing it up, students engage in a variety of art forms including acoustic roots music, slam poetry, and visual art as they grow deeper in their journey of faith. Taking a point of inspiration through a sacred text, the theme and direction of the art form takes flight in a small group setting. With guest artists, field trips, and relevant discussion, there is never a dull moment. Regardless of artistic ability, students find that they grow together in moments of enriching discipleship and, together, have a blast worshiping God through the arts.
All high school students are invited to join us, Wednesdays at 6:15 p.m. in the Family Life Center, Room 128.
