Serve

The FUMC church family is intentional in its desire to share its gifts through service to others. We are always looking for opportunities for our congregation to lend a hand in the community or around the world. The desire of our hearts is to be the hearts and hands of Christ to our neighbors, acknowledging that our neighbor is anyone, anywhere, who might need our help. Throughout the year we host events such as:

Meals On Wheels
Adopt -A-Highway Cleanup Day
Purchase clothes and backpacks for children at Huggins
Fill Christmas Baskets with food and toys
Stock the local food pantry with donations
Host UM Army
Host the Brookwood Community on 5th Sundays
Participate in "The Church Has Left the Building" Work Sundays

For information on serving please contact the church office.

It is time to sign up for Christmas baskets!  If you would like to help a local family in need this Christmas, look for the sign-up sheet at the back of the Sanctuary after November 27th.  Baskets will be delivered on December 17th.

Room For Love

A hard-working needy family in our area has been stretched to the limit of late. The grandparents care for a houseful of grandchildren now since their daughter-in-law’s death from sickle cell last summer. Their home is in critical need of many different major repairs including plumbing, roofing, wiring and carpentry. Our church’s mission team has been assembling and coordinating much of the major repair work, but there is room for love in the rest of the home, too.

We are dividing the home up into rooms and areas of need for others to be able to give of themselves to help these neighbors. Our own youth and a team from United Methodist Army’s leadership council is rebuilding the front porch. A group of girlfriends has opted out of gift-giving to each other this Christmas; and instead, will paint, redecorate and outfit the teenager’s bedroom. A group of teenage boys and their families have adopted the kitchen and will replace windows, curtain, vinyl flooring, ceiling tiles and sink fixtures. They will paint walls and cabinetry as well. A United Methodist Church in Katy has agreed to assist our church in some of the major construction work. This project is off to a running start with all the goodwill already demonstrated! Be a part of the solution! Get your group together and join us!  bowling league together, your Girl Scout troop, your Boy Scout Pack, your Sunday school class, your bridge or bunko group, your golf buddies or your domino teams and join in our latest church mission.

Give us your heart because there’s always room for love…

Meals On Wheels

Drivers are needed for Meals On Wheels.  If you could volunteer to deliver meals once a month, that would be very helpful.  Call or email Susan Whitacre, Director of Volunteers at Susan@FortBendSeniors.org or 281-633-7056.  You may pick up an invitation to our next orientation from Janis in the church office.
